OVER half the available tickets for the return of speedway to Leicester this weekend have been snapped up.

The club have launched a National Development League challenge clash between the Lion Cubs and Scunthorpe Stags this Sunday at 5.30.

Limited crowd numbers are allowed as the meeting is classed as a grassroots sporting event.

Leicester have also confirmed Connor Mountain, a member of last season’s Championship winning team, will return to the Paul Chapman and Sons Arena to ride for the club and is sure to receive a big welcome.

Club promoter Stewart Dickson said: “The response has been staggering and it underlines just how starved of speedway the public are.

“It’s vital that we make a success of this in every area, particularly following the Covid regulations of course.

“We are confident everything will go well and we are thrilled to see Connor Mountain in Leicester colours again, along with Danyon Hume and Joe Lawlor.”

Gates will open at 4pm and supporters should follow all the signage and stewards advice in order to enjoy their evening in a safe manner.

Tickets, priced £15 to include a programme, are available online from leicesterspeedway.com/ticketoffice but fans are urged to act quickly to avoid disappointment.
